The author

Most crime fiction is imagined. His was lived.

Joe Broadmeadow, retired East Providence police captain and author
Capt. Joe Broadmeadow, East Providence Police, retired

Joe joined the East Providence Police Department in 1978 and spent the next twenty years working its streets and its cases.

He commanded the Investigative Services Division and served on the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force alongside the FBI and DEA. He retired in 1998 as a captain. That is why his procedure is right, and why the moral lines in his books blur the way they do in real cases.

He always wrote, sending pieces to newspapers and magazines while still on the job. After retiring, and with a push from his wife, Susan, he started writing books in earnest.
